Kristen “Kris” Kardashian Jenner (born Kristen Mary Houghton on November 5, 1955) is an American television personality, socialite, and businesswoman, as well as manager for daughter Kim Kardashian and wife of businessman, and former athlete Bruce Jenner.

Biography
Ms. Kristen Mary Houghton, a former flight attendant was wooed by and then later married to lawyer, later music producer Robert Kardashian (best known for his trial defence of O.J. Simpson) from 1978 to 1989. Kris and Robert’s marriage resulted in four children: Kourtney on April 18, 1979; Kim on October 21, 1980; Khloe Kardashian on June 27, 1984 and Robert’s son Robert Kardashian Jr. on March 17, 1987 named after his father. Following marital difficulties, Kris filed for divorce in 1989.

Second Marriage
Circa 1990, Kris commenced a romance with Olympic gold medalist (decathlon) athlete and business figure Bruce Jenner. Bruce related that prior to proposing to Kris, he approached the late Robert Kardashian (to remain on amicable terms, as Bruce viewed the biological father a very necessary in Roberts’ children’s lives), inviting him to a dinner to discuss an amicable situation viz-a-viz finalisation of the divorce, which Robert genteelly agreed to. A period later, Bruce proposed to Kris and married in 1991.

Kourtney related in the show that as a child, she was least accepting of Bruce and did not take very well to her new father and deliberately wore black for the first year of Bruce’ and Kris’ marriage. Kris’ marriage with Bruce resulted in two daughters, according to Kris: “a fantastic, unexpected surprise”- she was close to menopause thus her chances of conception low: Kendall (b November 3, 1995) and Kylie (b. August 10, 1998).

Kris is stepmother to Bruce’s son Burt and daughter Casey from Bruce’s first marriage; and stepmother to sons Brody (born August 21, 1983) and Brandon (born June 4, 1981) of Bruce’s second marriage. Kris Jenner nee Houghton is of Scottish and Dutch descent.

Career
Kris Jenner, as of 2009, worked as manager for daughters Kourtney, Kim and Khloe. She owns the Calabasas (California) children’s store “Smooch” which she co-runs with daughter Kourtney. Kris and Kourtney stated on their show the store was purposely established to provide needed catharsis and distraction from grief mourning her late ex-husband Robert.

Kris is noted on the show for her very motherly, down-to-earth nature and keen interest in her daughters’ personal and romantic lives.
